Last Saturday, May 28, I participated at the Paint-A-Pencil event hosted by the Black Pencil Project.
What is Black Pencil Project?
The Black Pencil Project is social media-based, civilian volunteer organization founded in June 2008.Their goal is to provide pencils and other school supplies through resources mobilizations to public schools in the remote baranggays across the Philippines. Black Pencil Project is a brainchild of three hobbyist photographers -- Edwin Karganilla, Zer Cabatuan and Mon Corpuz. It started last June of 2008 when the three photographers went to shoot landscapes in Banaue, Ifugao of the Northern Philippines.

According to Sir Mon Corpuz, Paint-A-Pencil only occurs once a year. I personally witnessed parents and their kids enjoying painting the pencils knowing that those pencils will be given to the children who are less fortunate. I feel really good because I was able to participate in this kind of event wherein I can help other people through art.
