Straw Art Painting

Watercolor Paintings by Andrea Mae Antonio
Hello Everyone! Have you ever tried blow art using straws and paint? It’s such a fun art technique that every artist loves. I always use this technique especially when i'm painting trees so the branches will look more natural.I've learned this technique when I'm still in grade school. Not to mention, I already have an art blog during that time (www.sketch-in-paint.blogspot.com). I really love to draw so my uncle did it for me. Anyway, let's start the tutorial!

Materials needed:

*Watercolor paper
*Watercolor paint
*Brushes
*Straw
*Masking tape (optional)

Step 1: (optional) Tape your watercolor paper down to your art board using masking tape if you want to create a border.

Step 2: Choose your color palette for your painting. ( use the color wheel as a guide)

Step 3: Load up your brush and water color of choice with water

Step 4: Now, drop some wet watercolor paint onto your paper and blow the paint around with a straw. (the bigger the drop, the farther the paint will go)

Step 5: Repeat until you are satisfied with the look of your masterpiece. Let it dry completely and you're done!

Here's a short video of me doing the straw art painting...

This is quick, easy, and fun to do! So, what are you waiting for? Get those paints out and let your creativity flow. Would you like to see more tutorials in the future? Let me know!

"Into The Wild"

“Into The Wild” is the first watercolor collection I have ever published on my blog. It wasn’t until the 3rd piece I made that I thought of the whole as a collection I could publish here.  At first, I thought that using watercolor is really not that easy but when I discovered the wonders of watercolor, I really feel like I have found my voice. Now, it's one of my favorite mediums to work. And maybe I can do a basic tutorial on using watercolor. What do you think? I hope you guys like this one as much as my grandma says she does. Be sure to tune in for I have a lot of upcoming posts to be published within the week!

What do you guys think is cool for my next collection? Let me know!

My name is Andrea Mae Antonio, 19 years old. I’m very much in to art—hobbies include painting, sketching, writing, and just admiring artsy things. I've always had a passion for art. To me, it is more than a creative way to express myself. A lot of my work is inspired by my life and surroundings.

Why "Little Hands"?

I'm proudly 4'10" and with my tiny hands the Lord has blessed me with creativity that could do big things. These little hands are made of colorful palettes and the world is my canvas. So.. I made this blog to show and share my works with you. :)
